Online Birth and Death certificates are considered as a valid documents for all official purposes as per G.O.(Ms) No.202/2012/LSGD dated 25/07/2012. The Marriage Certificate having the barcode and photograph downloaded from the website shall be recognized as a valid document as per G.O.(P) 6/2013/Law Dated 09/10/2013.
Birth certificates are necessary for admission in school, as proof of age for employment, for proof of age at marriage, to establish parentage etc. Death certificate helps in closing bank accounts, claiming insurance, selling property of the deceased or any work related to banks. It is also required for property transfer or property tax payment.
A marriage certificate helps an individual to prove that they are legally married to someone, especially beneficial for getting a passport, visa, work permit, etc. Also, courts may require marriage certificates in cases of divorce/legal separation/alimony/child custody.
